A Pretty Woman

She was a bouquet of delight

When first she gleam’d upon my sight;

A lovely presence the heavens sent

To be my life’s ornament;

Her eyes like stars that are so rare

Just like twilight’s beauty, her dusky hair;

The image of her that these words drew

I gazed at her as the time flew;

A gorgeous shape, an image gay,

To haunt, to startle, to brighten this day.

I saw her upon nearer view,

A pretty face but an enigma too!

Her awkward movements light and free

But graceful like lady liberty;

A scarce occurrence in which did meet

Humble ways and gestures sweet;

A creature too bright and good

With human nature’s changing mood;

Along with brief sorrows and simple wiles,

Came praise, blame, love, kisses, tears and smiles.

And now I see with my eyes serene

The very pulse of this machine;

A being breathing thoughtful breath,

An instigator of life amidst all the death;

The reason firm, the abstinent will,

Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;

A Perfect Woman, nobly planned,

To warn, comfort and command;

Yet a spirit still, bold and bright

With something of angelic light.

  1. Beautiful it is. A lady with the finest graces, is loved by all. But it’s true that beauty Is beyond that. In fact beauty is everywhere if we want to see it.

    It’s truly said that it is ordinary to love to beautiful, but it’s beautiful to love the ordinary.

    Great work!
