The One That Got Away

It’s been a while since I’ve been struggling with my words,

They once flew freely like a flock of birds.

You were my biggest source of inspiration,

The happiest part of my vocation.

It’s been over a year since we last met,

You’re a part of my happiest memories and some desperate regrets.

I’ve imagined saying goodbye to you a million times,

I wrote about you repeatedly in my many rhymes.

I am probably an idiot to still hold on to hope,

I just want you to be a part of my trope,

Walk together on this uphill slope.

  1. Resonates 100 % therefore, let that hope go. Its only taking away our pieces, leaving us with holes. And no matter what we do these holes will just not get filled unless that hope doesnt go away. This kind of hope just takes us away from own ourselves. Let it go!!

      1. I know, that fear can make you feel like the sky is falling down on you. But trust me, I know this fear closesly, lived in it for lonnnnng years. But, this kind of hope just makes things worse. You yourself will break your pieces and no one else will be around to fix you in this. This kind of hope doesn’t give much in return, but takes away too much. And before you even realise you will find it difficult to even remember who you were and what exactly you wanted your life as. I hope you find your own light soon, I know the sleepless nights, the constant voices in mind trust me they will only go, when you leave this hope. Good luck, I hope this battle is easy on you. Just dont miss your pieces in this storm. Good luck !!! I know you will be able to see your own sunshine, your own waves of ocean, your own moonshine. πŸ€—

  2. I wish I had been reading you sooner, I have been playing catch up. It is strange, it is like we are on opposite sides of the same coin, I also had someone I cared for that I decided to let go, or we let each other go, I am unsure at this point but it seems that your poems seemed to detail the same journey we were on. Ironically you share the same birthday. I hope you will continue you writing, because even though I am on the far side of the globe from you, your words speak to me as if whispered on my pillow at night. Straight into my heart. He was always…a well maybe someday, but never the reality.
