It Pains Me

It pains me to see you like this,

To see you struggle the way that you do.

It pains me to watch you from afar,

Feeling so helpless cause there’s nothing I can do.

I stand here eagerly waiting for you to reach out,

Hoping you gave enough faith in me to help you out.

Somehow your peace brings me peace,

And your sanity brings me sanity.

It always surprises me at how dependent feelings can be,

My happiness knows no bounds when you’re thriving I see.

It pains me to acknowledge that giving you space is best,

But until you’re better I cannot rest.

Take your time and do what you must,

In your abilities I have absolute trust.

I’ll patiently wait for you to get better,

Because I know this storm you will weather.

  1. This distance I create
    Is so I cannot see
My pain reflected in your face
    Hurting not just me

I hope you can forgive me
    For these selfish acts
    I cannot currently carry
The weight on both our backs

And, if you do still love me
    Then slow your steady pace
I will catch up to you
    When having better days

      1. Thank you. I was really touched by your poem. As someone usually on the other side, it was nice to hear that someone is willing to wait. I wanted to at least attempt to return the favor and remind you that the other person likely cares, too.

  2. I truly believe you will find the peace you are looking for and there will be absolute happiness all around you. True love causes pain because it is selfless and it demands sacrifice from all the parties concerned. This phase will also change so have faith in God.
